The city centre of Durham is
surrounded on three sides by a meander in the River Wear
forming a peninsular at the base of which is the Market place
and main shopping area of the city with a good mix of national
and local independent stores plus many resturants and cafes to
suit all tastes and pockets. Add to this the buskers and
entertainers and it is certainly a lively. All this creates
interesting contrasts with the hustle and bustle of the Shops
and the peace and tranquility of the river bank just a few
The Tranquility of the River bank.
These two Photographs were taken just miutes apart and their
locations are just a few metres apart. For the best of both
worlds Come to Durham!
